In a multi-user
operating system such as Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, applications
are generally installed into a folder from which all users can run them,
such as C:\Program Files. Only users with administrative privileges can
install applications into such folders in a multi-user operating system.
This makes
the PreViser™ application available to anyone authorized to use
your computer, so you don’t have to log off the machine to run the
application. Everyone on your practice staff can use the same PreViser™
application (and the same user account).
To run the
PreViser™ application, you need to have an Internet connection to
transmit information to or from PreViser for some tasks. If you encounter
a problem while using PreViser™, you may need to check your Internet
connection, try again, or contact your Internet Service Provider.
Connecting
to the Internet:
Most of
the components of the PreViser™ software are installed on your
local computer, so to run the application and access your records, you
do not have to be connected to the Internet constantly.
This means that if you have a dial-up connection, you will not tie up
your phone line the entire time you have PreViser™ open.
However,
there are certain functions that require you to connect to the Internet
briefly at that point, such as accessing your current Billing information
or transmitting data for calculating a risk score to produce a new report.
This means that if your Internet connection fails, you may have problems
using certain features of the application, so checking your connection
and trying again will often resolves issues related to your connection
rather than to PreViser™.
For
practices running multiple computers on a network:
For information
on changes you will need to make in order for multiple computers to
run PreViser software and share the same data file over a network, please
see the current documentation posted on the PreViser Support Center;
a shortcut from the Home page of the Support site will take you to the
main page, or click the link below to view that now:

For
practices with multiple locations:
In the
case that your practice has more than one office, you can still use
one account Username to access the PreViser™
application at each location, yet keep all your billing and administrative
records linked in a single account.
You can
use the same account name to log in to PreViser at both locations. However,
you need to install the PreViser application at both locations,
which means each system runs behind its own firewall and maintains a
separate data file of patient records only viewable
at that location.
At both
location, viewing your online billing statements would include charges
for both locations (any charges associated with your account
Username login), with the PreViser ID visible for all patients, but
the Patient Details information would only display for patients associated
with that particular office (i.e. the Patient Name field on the billing
statement would be blank for a patient who attends the other office).
Another solution would be to use a USB flash drive and keep your data
file with you. Information about that solution is listed with the Networking
documentation on the Support site (see the link in the section above
here).
If that
situation sounds complicated, or you would prefer to keep your billing
information separate for each location, you can instead set up a PreViser
User account for each location, install the application as usual but
use the different account names at each separate location, to maintain
your billing records at each office. It's up to you!
Please contact
us at PreViser Support should you wish to operate more
than one user account or have any other administrative questions. |
